• Saudi Ports Authority will set a date for the launch of electronic appointments in King Abdul Aziz Port

    Asharqia Chamber held a workshop on "Truck Management Project" and was managed by a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber and Chairman of the Logistics Committee, Bandar bin Rafi Al-Jabri.

     

    Saudi Ports Authority with Fasah's team are planning to continue the launch of the truck management project, as well as the electronic link between the management system of trucks in King Abdul Aziz Port and container operators issued, which will be in May, and linking with general and bulk cargo operators.

    It was noted that the project was launched in April 2018 and was connected to container operators in May 2018 and linking with customs in September last year.

    It was stressed that the development of the system continues on the basis of observations received by the Authority from all relevant parties.

     

    The electronic system of booking appointments of trucks on the platform "Fasah" is an integrated truck management system in Saudi ports and identify key challenges and bottlenecks at major ports, which contributes to the management of trucks and raise the level of operational efficiency of all work system in ports.

    Al-Jabri said that the workshop, which comes within the activities and programs of the Logistics Committee for the year 2019, aims to introduce the business sector and truck owners with the work of government agencies in terms of electronic connectivity and the Kingdom's plan for digital transformation in Saudi ports.

    Al-Jabri explained that since the launch of the Vision of the Kingdom of 2030, our wise government has intensified its efforts to enter the era of digital ports, which depend on efficient operation and optimal use of data and improve competitiveness, which positively affects the movement of goods and products and increase investment opportunities and employment in the sector, as this affects directly in our national choices.

    He added, "the Kingdom is a global logistical support area."

     

    As mentioned during the workshop, which was attended by the Director of Commercial Operation Department at King Abdul Aziz Port Captain Bassem Al Dosari, that the system aims to increase the productivity of carriers by reducing the waiting time and reduce the turnover of the truck in the ports through the implementation of several procedures with sectors (government and commercial), and linked to the system of truck management, which include "Port Bill, payment of floor fees, results of radiation, reverse detection procedures, the wages of port operators, permission and delivery card."

     

    He pointed out that there are many advantages offered by the platform (FASAH) to the relevant parties that facilitate the procedures of booking automatically and raise the level of efficiency in all ports through the application of truck reservation service, including on the electronic connectivity of ports, customs, public transport and other related parties.

     

    It was noted that the system sets the initial scheduling periods electronically.

     There will be a stimulus period starting from 1 am to 4 am, and peak periods (from 6 am to 9 am, from 12 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm.)

    While off-peak periods are from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm, from 7 am to 1 am, from 4 pm to 6 pm in order to increase operational efficiency and distribution of congestion and capacity.​
